A New Access Control System Installation in Guildford
Scope of Work
System D were awarded the project of working with a new client to install a new access control server to a multi-tenant office space in Guildford.
Work Carried Out
This project involved the replacement of an aging and non-functional on-site server that previously hosted the client’s access control software. Due to the failure of the existing server, users were unable to log into the system, posing a significant risk to both operational continuity and site security.
To resolve this, a new server was specified and procured to meet the system’s requirements. Over the course of a weekend, the new server was installed within the client’s existing IT cabinet. As part of this process, the existing nine access control controllers were safely powered down and transitioned onto the new server environment. This allowed for the system to be rebuilt from the ground up, replicating the original configuration to ensure continuity and familiarity for the client.
During the rebuild process, interim measures were taken to maintain security on-site. Specifically, two external locks were temporarily powered up to ensure the building remained secure while the access control system was offline.
Project Review
The outcome of the project was a successful migration of the access control infrastructure onto a new, stable server platform. The client’s access control system was fully restored, ensuring secure access to the premises and improved system reliability going forward.
